Crash results in vehicle entering the ocean, 5 injured

Here's a scary story about a crash that occurred near the Pacific Coast in Ventura County. As someone who lives only a short distance from the ocean, understanding how serious a crash can become if the crash results in a vehicle entering the water is vital.

The crash reported on July 12 happened when two vehicles collided around 5:40 p.m. They were traveling on Pacific Coast Highway at the time; the police believe that alcohol might have played a role in the crash.

Regardless of the cause, one of the two vehicles went off the road, going over a cliff and into the water. The three people inside were fortunately able to get out of the vehicle before it sank. Two were ejected, able to swim back to the shore. Another had critical injuries. Two others involved in the crash reportedly had moderate and minor injuries.

Visuals of the crash showed the vehicle slamming against the rocks in the ocean. It's a stark reminder that going over a ledge is a serious risk in any coastal area, and it's one you should take seriously. Catastrophic injuries, like severe brain injuries and spinal cord injuries, are particularly common in severe collisions like this one.

People who are hurt because of drunk drivers deserve to have their concerns heard. It's possible to file a lawsuit against the driver or the driver's insurance for compensation. The authorities may also arrest someone accused of drunk driving to make sure they are tested and held accountable for their actions. If people intend to drive, then alcohol should not be on the menu.
