Joshua Cohen

In a city dedicated to cars, Josh is unafraid to take the lane. He rides, litigates, and is the cutting edge of bicycling and the law. Trial Advocacy and experience form the foundation which has enabled Josh to recover millions of dollars for his clients.
 
Josh lobbies federal, state and local governments to implement legislation and infrastructure that protects vulnerable road users. He is a board member of and donor to the California Bicycle Coalition. He also supports the League of American Bicyclists, the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition, Los Angeles Walks, team Climate Ride, and other proponents of active transportation.
 
Josh has been interviewed by, covered and published in the Los Angeles Times, KABC, Warren Olney, and numerous legal magazines.

Paul Cohen

With over 50 years of experience, Paul F Cohen is a partner at Cohen Law Partners.

After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania cum laude in 1959, Paul spent the summer at Lennox School of Jazz and the following year he toured the country as a jazz musician. Paul graduated from New York University Law School in 1963. He passed the Pennsylvania and District of Columbia bar exams in 1964.

In 1964, Cohen and his wife moved to Washington D.C., where he worked for the U.S. Department of the Interior,  Neighborhood Legal Services, and lastly as executive director of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. In 1969 Paul moved to Los Angeles to work for a civil rights law group. He went into private practice in 1972, and has handled litigation matters related to probate, conservatorships, trust and estate administration, and business disputes ever since. 

Today Paul is active on the Los Angeles County Probate Volunteer Panel (PVP), and frequent lecturer at Los Angeles County and Beverly Hills Bar Associations on conservatorships. Paul is also a skilled mediator and has lectured at Pepperdine University Law School seminars on Improvisational Mediation, using his own live jazz trio to demonstrate the principles of creativity, improvisation, cooperation and discourse in mediation of legal disputes.

Darren Reid

Attorney Darren Reid is a partner at Cohen Law Partners. His practice focuses on bicycle-related personal injury cases.

Darren graduated Magna Cum Laude from Southwestern Law School. While at Southwestern he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Southwestern Law Review and earned a Certificate in Public Policy from the Paree RAND Graduate School. After passing the California Bar Exam, Darren continued his legal education by earning an LL.M. from Southwestern. During his LL.M., he developed a Bar Exam study tool (baressayrules.com) and a network-visualization legal research tool (theseamlessweb.com).

Darren’s passion for cycling started in his hometown of Davis, California—official motto: “Most bicycle friendly town in the world.” Darren commuted by bike to elementary and junior high school, and rode his beach cruise to every class in college at UCSB. Now he commutes from Santa Monica to Cohen Law Partners on his Electra Townie GO!.

Darren is fluent in Spanish and is a former professional jazz trumpeter.

Martha Guilmette

Paralegal Martha Guilmette was born in Mexico and is fluent in Spanish and English. Her experience as a paralegal since 1991 has given her great fluency in the rules of civil procedure, calendaring, evidence, discovery and medical record review. She commutes via transit and walking and avoids driving whenever possible.

Arthur Rozek

Case manager Arthur Rozek is an Ohio native who relocated to Los Angeles after graduating from The Ohio State University with a degree in Biology. As an undergraduate studying pre-med, he developed an awareness of human injury and knew that he wanted to help people who have been physically harmed. His background in anatomy and physiology gives him a unique understanding of client’s injuries and treatment.

He is involved in cases from start to finish and helps clients navigate the legal and medical challenges that accompany devastating injuries. Arthur looks forward to a challenging career in the legal field. Arthur is fluent in Polish.

Dana Duarte

Legal assistant Dana Duarte, a native of Ventura County, holds a BA in psychology from California State University Northridge, a master’s degree in forensic psychology from Southern New Hampshire University, and a mediation certificate from University of California at Santa Barbara.

She has worked at Cohen Law Partners since 2012 as a legal assistant.
